We caught up with Denali Strabel (AK) Member of The 2018 Bronze Medal World Championship Team and prominent person in Alaska mountain and trail running.

“It’s exciting to see skyrunning gaining momentum again in the United States. The depth of talent and enthusiasm in this year’s team shows how much it’s grown. I’m proud to have been part of an earlier generation of U.S. skyrunners and eager to see where this team takes the sport next.” -Denali Strabel

Joseph DeMoor (CO) 2022 Vertical Kilometer® World Champion, 2024 Vertical Kilometer® Silver Medalist also shared his thoughts on this year’s event-

“2022 was my first Skyrunning World Champs in Val d’Ossola, Italy and I was the lone U.S. athlete competing. For 2024, I was determined to bring a full team to Spain; we were successful in that goal, but came up short of making the Overall Team Podium. I’m excited to see if the 2026 team can build upon what the 2024 team accomplished.

After 2022’s championships I was repeatedly asked, ‘What is Skyrunning?’ I’m not asked that as much any more; maybe Skyrunning is back in the U.S. running lexicon?” -Joseph Demoor

“Jumpstarting Skyrunning in The US has felt like my own personal Barkley (Barkley Marathons) at times- Little support, small chance of success, and even less praise should you succeed.” (jokingly) -Ryan Kerrigan Head Coach US Skyrunning

You're What Gets Them There Support American Skyrunners on the World Stage

American skyrunners are among the strongest in the world. This year, they're ready to prove it.

US Skyrunning is sending teams to five major championship events in 2025 — the Youth Continental Championships in Canada, the Youth World Championships in Croatia, the World Championships in Spain, and the Skymasters Championships in France and Portugal. Athletes will compete alongside the best in the world, representing the USA at every level.

Getting there takes more than talent. Travel, lodging, uniforms, coaching, and federation fees all stand between these athletes and the starting line. That's where you come in.

Every dollar you give puts an American skyrunner on that mountain.
