“A Skyrunner® USA National Series will not only bring us together as a country but also a team!
US Skyrunning will gain the respect it deserves among the most challenging of competitive USA sports. It will also provide the foundation to attract present and future world champions.
As a veteran skyrunning coach and referee, I have witnessed and envied the camaraderie and united spirit of the Spanish and Italians. Their athletes test each other constantly on the summits of the Alps, Apennines, Pyrenees and the Cantabrian ranges. The Italian and Spanish Skyrunning series have not only brought athletes together but also families and fans of this great sport. It has created a skyrunning culture in these countries.
We will now have the opportunity to bring together the small but enthusiastic pockets of skyrunners from the slopes of Mt. Marathon in the Kenai Range in Alaska, the Sierras, Rockies, Green and White Mountains, Wasatch, Tetons, Ozarks and Cascades. Our people are as diverse as our mountains. Bringing together our diverse, enthusiastic mountain junkies will provide the strength we will need to compete against the best skyrunners in the world!”
